Smart devices are generally connected to other devices or networks and can operate to some extent interactively and autonomously. Development of a smart device starts from component and technology selection and continues with product R&D, manufacturing and after sales. End user experience is the key differentiator for any smart device product. It is built from well performing components and skillfully integrated product hardware and software. OptoFidelity provides measurement solutions and technologies for all the phases of smart device product life-cycle: component, product R&D, production and after sales. Our team consists of measurement technologies, mechatronics, optical metrology and signal processing experts. We have a wide expertise in testing and measuring sensors and actuators, which all are essential for the smart device user experience. System design includes reading of the input data from sensors and from network and produces the desired outcome users will see, hear or feel. This involves sensor fusion and real time processing of data from multiple sources. User interface is expected to react swiftly to the user actions. Use case may involve a sensor sub-system, such as tactile button feedback or fingerprint identification, or require sensor fusion, like in AR/VR motion tracking, 3D mapping and touch UI. Connectivity has variations in latency and data throughput depending on the technology used. For example, changing from 5G to WiFi may have significant impact on latencies. Fine tuning the product to tolerate variations in connectivity plays a key role in user experience - especially in the case of real time applications like interactive games and future AR/VR applications. OptoFidelity solutions enable measuring the product level performance including system design verification (stand-alone usage) and connectivity (on-line use cases). Our test approach for product performance is based on the idea of human simulator, i.e. non-intrusive measurement methods which do not require instrumentation.
