We´ve had a very active first half of 2018, and we have launched new technologies for existing solutions as well as totally new solutions. Here is a summary of our news for different smart device testing needs.

Test Factory – smart device testing solution

During the last 12 months we have delivered hundreds of testers to smartphone testing, reverse logistics and refurbishing, as well as in production lines for new phones in final assembly lines. In February, we talked about the new member of our test solutions, the OptoFidelity™ Test factory, a test platform for the testing of smart devices. It is a modular and very scalable platform that can be adjusted to your testing needs. Its test capabilities include functional testing, audio and RF-testing capabilities. The available test cases exceed 30 functional and performance tests. Our design approach makes it very easy to implement the needed test cases to this platform, regardless whether you have a smartphone, a tablet-sized product or a smart watch.

OptoFidelity™  GoldenEye for near eye displays

Test solution for curved and flat panel displays

Our advanced tool for display analysis, the OptoFidelity™  GoldenEye,  is used in smartphone testing and near eye display testing (AR & VR products). The tool can be integrated into high-accuracy robot mechanics or any other test fixture with a standard camera. OptoFidelity™  GoldenEye has now been upgraded with several new features for smart device testing. We can now detect display burn-ins, recognize cosmetic defects, and execute color measurements. We have also improved the user interface with new functionalities. The technology is now adjusted to fit perfectly for near eye display (NED) inspection purposes, especially AR & VR displays in focus.

OptoFidelity™ VR Multimeter – upgrades for AR/XR

Test solution for AR/VR/XR

OptoFidelity™ VR Multimeter has likewise been upgraded. New features include autofocus for different HMDs and motion blur analysis. Based on feedback, we also did a very extensive characterization for the test solution. The results of the characterization will soon be available on our website. We are also very proud that our solution supports most AR & VR HMDs on the market.  For advanced measurement purposes with AR & VR HMDs, we also have 3 degrees of freedom and 6 degrees of freedom designs available.

Shenzhen, South-China factory

Our Shenzhen factory was opened in February 2018. As of today, we have already delivered hundreds of test solutions for smart device testing to our customers. During the last 4 months we have also significantly increased our headcount in Mainland China and implemented all key processes for manufacturing. Based on capacity request from our customers, we are opening a second manufacturing site to Zhuhai at the end of the 2018. So far our progress has been impressive, as you would expect in China. Several of our customers have conducted their internal auditions and approved our processes. We at OptoFidelity are very happy with our increased capacity in both manufacturing and customer factory support.

We have totally new embedded test system capabilities and resources in OptoFidelity Engineering teams in China.  For example, we have world leading knowledge for smart device acoustic testing, and touch/force sensor testing. Today’s PCB circuitry has transitioned from discrete components to highly integrated programmable components. The test requirements for these components continue to change rapidly and grow in complexity. Therefore, a thorough understanding of the smart device performance and circuit design, high speed instrumentation, highly reliable and precision machined pogo pins & connectors are crucial to meet the demands of these test cases.
