An update to newest operating system version restores video playback performance of Nexus 7 (2013) to its previous level

1/8/14 10:27 AM

On December 2013 OptoFidelity test patrol carried out a video playback performance comparison between Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and 4.4 KitKat with Nexus 7 2012 and 2013 versions. According to all measures the performance of the new operating system was weaker than that of the old operating system.

The report brake the news for instance on TechCrunch:

Now there is again a newer operating system update 4.4.2 available for Nexus7. Of course we wanted to see what happened to the video playback performance after the newest update.

Again the results were little surprising. An update 4.4.2 operating system version restored video playback performance of Nexus (2013) to its previous level. The same thing can’t be said on Nexus7 2012 version. The newest update of operating system has some negative impacts on overall results of Nexus7 (2012).
