Career Stories
Tommi Björk
Product Owner
I came to OptoFidelity in late 2015. My background is in the automation industry control panel and PCB manufacturing. I was hired as an HW engineer but quickly started to design tools related to robotic sensing and develop measurement methods for complex metrology needs.
It seemed at the time that my skills matched well with the needs of OptoFidelity and during these years, I have had the opportunity to move from tool design to oversee the development of full robotic systems, come up with novel measurement ideas, operate as a project manager and do optical development work of smart cameras for example.
In this light, and working with extremely competent colleagues, I see no limits to how far one can develop oneself and learn more new things along with the ever-changing smart device industry.
Janne Karjalainen
Scrum Master
I work as a Scrum Master for two teams. In my job, I help the teams to organize, prioritize, and schedule tasks so that the teams’ highly skilled professionals can concentrate on each task at hand, on what they do the best. I have also been helping and accelerating OptoFidelity’s Agile Transformation by acting as an Agile Coach for different units and teams.
My professional background is in the mobile phone industry, and in my previous job, I worked in the development of sports watches. I have a long experience in software testing, but a few years ago I became interested in better ways of working, started digging into agile methods, and became a Certified Scrum Master, Certified Product Owner, and Certified SAFe PO/PM.
In my work, I especially enjoy developing ways of working and defining processes that help organize the work. At OptoFidelity the organization is quite flat and there are a lot of possibilities to make an impact. I also think that we have great people onboard!
Mikko Ahlgren
Hardware Team Lead
I graduated from Tampere University of Technology in 2008 (Electrical Engineering) focusing on Factory Automation. I worked for a while at the University as a Research Assistant in an international group and then joined Grundfos (a big global pump company) as an R&D Product Engineer. Project Management and management came along after a few years and I ended up leading an R&D Laboratory where there were functions in three countries.
I joined OptoFidelity in 2019 as a Project manager and had experience in projects with many different customers globally. After project management, I started to lead the Electrics team and today heading the electrical- and mechanical design team called Hardware.
The best thing about OptoFidelity is the people. I'm really proud to be part of the team and work daily with top professionals who also are worth gold during coffee breaks and free time! As a Manager, it feels great to see that people want to come to work, instead of “must” come to work. That sets and embraces the culture of well-being and true problem-solving attitude in our workplace! Another really exciting thing is to see the variety and integration of new technologies and customer portfolios globally.
